Traditional Chicken Soup

A heartwarming traditional chicken soup rich in flavor and loaded with nutrients, perfect for cold days and boosting your immunity.

Serves: 6

Ingredients

1 whole chicken (about 4 lbs)
10 cups water
2 large carrots, sliced
2 stalks celery, chopped
1 large onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 bay leaf
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
1 tsp thyme

Instructions

1. Place the chicken in a large pot and add water.
2. Bring to a boil, skimming off any foam.
3. Add carrots, celery, onion, garlic, bay leaf, salt, and pepper.
4. Reduce heat and simmer for 1.5 hours.
5. Remove the chicken, shred the meat.
6. Return the shredded chicken to the pot.
7. Add parsley and thyme, simmer for 10 more minutes.
8. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.

Storage

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.

Reheating

Reheat gently on the stove over medium heat until hot, or microwave in a covered dish until heated through.
