Traditional Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Ingredients

1 lb elbow macaroni
4 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
2 cups whole milk
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 tsp paprika

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Cook macaroni according to package instructions, drain and set aside.
3. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
4. Stir in flour, salt, and pepper, cooking until smooth.
5. Gradually whisk in milk, bringing the mixture to a boil until thickened.
6. Remove from heat and stir in cheddar cheese until melted.
7. Combine cheese sauce with cooked macaroni, mixing evenly.
8. Pour into a greased baking dish.
9. Mix breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, and paprika, then sprinkle over macaroni.
10. Bake for 25-30 minutes until top is golden and bubbly.

Storage

Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating

Reheat in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 15 minutes or until warmed through.
