Timeless Sugar Cookie

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
6. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
7. Flatten each ball gently with the bottom of a glass or your hand.
8. Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Storage

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.

Reheating

To reheat, warm cookies in a preheated oven at 300°F for about 5 minutes to freshen them up.
