Ingredients
16 oz elbow macaroni
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Cook the elbow macaroni according to the package instructions, then drain and set aside.
3. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1-2 minutes, until it forms a smooth paste.
4. Gradually whisk in the milk and heavy cream, ensuring no lumps remain. Cook until the mixture begins to thicken, about 5 minutes.
5. Reduce the heat to low and add the cheddar, mozzarella, and parmesan cheeses. Stir until the cheeses are fully melted and the sauce is smooth.
6. Season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
7. Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce, stirring to coat the pasta evenly.
8. Transfer the macaroni and cheese mixture to a baking dish.
9. Sprinkle breadcrumbs over the top to form an even layer.
10. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
11. Let cool slightly before serving.
Storage
Allow to cool to room temperature, then store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
