Ingredients
Sushi rice - 2 cups
Water - 2.5 cups
Rice vinegar - 1/3 cup
Sugar - 3 tbsp
Salt - 1 tsp
Nori sheets - 5
Fresh salmon - 1/2 lb, thinly sliced
Fresh tuna - 1/2 lb, thinly sliced
Cucumber - 1, julienned
Carrot - 1, julienned
Avocado - 1, sliced
Soy sauce - for serving
Pickled ginger - for serving
Wasabi - for serving
Instructions
1. Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
2. Cook the rice with 2.5 cups of water in a rice cooker or pot.
3. Once cooked, transfer the rice to a large bowl and let it cool slightly.
4. Mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt, then fold this mixture into the rice.
5. Place a nori sheet shiny side down on a bamboo sushi mat.
6. Spread a thin layer of rice evenly over the nori, leaving a 1-inch border at the top.
7. Arrange slices of salmon, tuna, cucumber, carrot, and avocado horizontally across the rice.
8. Roll the sushi tightly using the mat, applying gentle pressure.
9. Slice the roll into 6-8 pieces with a sharp, wet knife.
10. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
11. Serve with soy sauce, pickled ginger, and wasabi.
Storage
Store any leftover sushi rolls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
Reheating
To reheat, bring the sushi to room temperature, but it is best served fresh.
