Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

3/4 cup whole milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries, mashed
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon strawberry extract
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 8-inch round cake pans.
Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Step 3: Add softened butter, milk, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth.
Step 4: Incorporate the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Step 5: Gently fold in the mashed strawberries.
Step 6: Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
Step 7: Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Step 8: Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 9: For the frosting, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and strawberry extract until stiff peaks form.
Step 10: Layer the cooled cakes with the strawberry cream and frost the top and sides.
Step 11: Garnish with fresh strawberries if desired.
