Spiced Masala Chai

Spiced Masala Chai is a rich and warming beverage crafted with robust black tea leaves, creamy milk, and a fragrant blend of warming spices like ginger, cardamom, cloves, and cinnamon. This comforting drink is a perfect companion for celebrating Diwali alongside your favorite snacks and sweets.

Ingredients

2 cups water
2 cups whole milk
2 tbsp black tea leaves
1 inch ginger, sliced
5 cardamom pods
4 cloves
1 cinnamon stick
2 tbsp sugar (optional)

Instructions

1. In a pot, bring water to a boil.
2. Add ginger, cardamom pods, cloves, and cinnamon stick to the boiling water. Reduce heat and let it simmer for 5 minutes to release the flavors of the spices.
3. Add the black tea leaves to the pot and simmer for another 3 minutes.
4. Pour in the milk, increase the heat, and bring the mixture back to a boil. Watch carefully to prevent it from boiling over.
5. Add sugar to taste, if desired, and stir until dissolved.
6. Strain the chai into cups and serve hot.

Storage

Store leftover chai in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating

To reheat, gently warm the chai on the stove over low heat, stirring occasionally.
