Spiced Caramel Apple Crumble

Ingredients
4 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup quick oats
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar and water over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
3. Increase heat to high, allowing mixture to boil until it turns a light amber color, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and carefully stir in butter, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
4. Place apple slices in a baking dish and pour the caramel mixture over them.
5. In a bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
6. Sprinkle the crumble mixture evenly over the apples.
7. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
8. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Storage
Store leftover crumble in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheating
Reheat single servings in the microwave for 30-45 seconds or in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10 minutes.
