Ingredients

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
1 cup warm milk (110°F)
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
1 large egg
1 cup raisins
1/2 cup peeled and diced apple, small cubes
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon melted butter for brushing

Instructions

1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, granulated sugar, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
2. In a separate bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
3. Add the yeast mixture, softened butter, and egg to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 10 minutes until smooth.
5. Fold in the raisins and diced apples until evenly distributed.
6. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
7. Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased loaf pan.
8. Let the dough rise again for 30 minutes.
9. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
10. Brush the top of the loaf with melted butter and sprinkle with brown sugar.
11. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
12. Let cool before slicing and serving.

Storage

Store the bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.

Reheating

To reheat, wrap the bread in foil and warm in a preheated oven at 300°F for 10 minutes or until heated through.
