Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 large eggs
1/2 cup sour cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground nutmeg
2 large apples, peeled and diced
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
3. Stir in the sour cream and vanilla extract.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
6. Fold in the diced apples.
7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
8. In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar and walnuts. Sprinkle evenly over the batter.
9. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
10. Allow the cake to cool for 10 minutes in the pan before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Store the cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
