Southern Smoked Beef Brisket

This Southern-style smoked beef brisket is a tender and flavorful masterpiece, slow-cooked for ultimate juiciness with a perfect blend of spices.

Ingredients

10 lbs beef brisket
1/4 cup kosher salt
1/4 cup black pepper
2 tbsp garlic powder
2 tbsp onion powder
1 tbsp paprika
1 tbsp chili powder
1 tbsp cayenne pepper
3 cups hickory wood chips

Instructions

1. Preheat smoker to 225°F.
2. In a small bowl, mix together salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, chili powder, and cayenne pepper.
3. Rub the spice mixture evenly over the brisket.
4. Place the brisket in the smoker fat side up.
5. Add wood chips to smoker according to manufacturer’s instructions.
6. Smoke brisket for 10 hours, or until internal temperature reaches 195°F.
7. Remove brisket from the smoker and let rest for at least 30 minutes before slicing.

Storage

Store leftover brisket in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Reheating

To reheat, wrap the brisket in foil and warm in a 300°F oven until heated through, about 20 minutes.
