Smoky Apple Bourbon Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients

1 cup apple cider vinegar
1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup apple juice
1/4 cup bourbon
1/4 cup molasses
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp smoked paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Combine apple cider vinegar, ketchup, brown sugar, apple juice, bourbon, molasses, and Worcestershire sauce in a medium saucepan.
2. Whisk in smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper until smooth.
3. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently.
4. Reduce heat to low and let it simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.
5. Remove from heat and let it cool completely before using or storing.

Storage

Store the barbecue sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Reheating

Reheat the sauce in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally until warmed through.
