Ingredients

4 slices sourdough bread
2 tbsp unsalted butter
4 oz sharp cheddar cheese, sliced
4 oz pepper jack cheese, sliced
1 fresh jalapeño, thinly sliced
1 tbsp mayonnaise
1 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

1. Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
2. Spread butter on one side of each bread slice.
3. Place two slices of bread, butter side down, on the skillet.
4. Layer with cheddar, pepper jack, and jalapeño slices.
5. Top with remaining bread slices, butter side up.
6. Cook until bread is golden and cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes per side.
7. Mix mayonnaise and garlic powder, then spread on the outside of each sandwich for a crispy finish.
