Ingredients

4 (6 oz) tuna steaks
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp fresh grated ginger
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp honey
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tbsp sesame oil
1/2 cup white sesame seeds
1/4 cup black sesame seeds
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 green onion, thinly sliced
1 tsp toasted sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, grated ginger, garlic, honey, rice vinegar, and sesame oil to make the glaze.
2. Pat the tuna steaks dry with a paper towel. In a shallow dish, mix the white and black sesame seeds.
3. Press each tuna steak into the sesame seed mixture, coating both sides evenly.
4. In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add tuna steaks.
5. Sear the tuna for 1-2 minutes on each side for rare, 3-4 minutes for medium-rare.
6. Remove tuna from the skillet and let it rest for a minute. Slice the tuna steaks.
7. Drizzle the ginger soy glaze over the tuna slices.
8. Garnish with sliced green onion and toasted sesame seeds before serving.

Storage

Store leftover seared tuna in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

Reheating

Reheat gently in a skillet over low heat or serve cold in a salad.
