Orange Cardamom Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
1 cup warm milk (110°F)
1/2 tsp salt
Zest of 1 large orange
1 tsp ground cardamom
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 tbsp fresh orange juice
1 tbsp milk

Instructions

1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let stand for 5 minutes until foamy.
2. Stir in melted butter, salt, orange zest, and cardamom. Gradually add flour, mixing until a dough forms.
3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
4. Roll the dough into a rectangle, spread softened butter over it, and sprinkle with a mixture of cinnamon and brown sugar.
5. Roll up the dough tightly, slice into rolls, and place in a greased baking dish. Let rise again for 30 minutes.
6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
7. Mix powdered sugar, orange juice, and milk to form a glaze. Drizzle over warm rolls before serving.

Storage

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.

Reheating

To reheat, microwave the rolls for 15-20 seconds or bake at 300°F (150°C) for 5-7 minutes.
