Ingredients
4 medium apples, peeled and sliced
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp lemon juice
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, and set aside.
3. In another bowl, mix together the rolled oats, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
4. Cut in the softened butter using a fork or pastry cutter until the mixture is crumbly.
5. Stir in the vanilla extract to the oat mixture.
6. Spread the apples evenly in a greased 9x9 inch baking dish.
7. Sprinkle the oat mixture over the apples, ensuring even coverage.
8. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
9. Allow to cool slightly before serving warm.
Storage
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
