Cook time: 20 minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients

1 head green cabbage, shredded
4 slices bacon, chopped
1 large apple, peeled and diced
1 onion, thinly sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

1. In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove from the skillet and set aside, leaving the bacon fat in the pan.
2. Add the butter to the skillet, then add the sliced onions. Sauté until the onions are translucent, about 5 minutes.
3. Stir in the garlic and cook for another 1 minute until fragrant.
4. Add the shredded cabbage to the skillet. Stir well to coat the cabbage in the fat and cook for about 10 minutes, until it begins to soften.
5. Stir in the diced apple, apple cider vinegar, salt, and black pepper. Continue to cook for another 5-7 minutes until the cabbage is tender and the apples are soft.
6. Return the cooked bacon to the skillet and stir to combine. Cook for an additional 2 minutes to warm through.
