Ingredients
1 large head of cabbage
1 lb ground beef
1 cup cooked white rice
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 egg
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
1/2 cup beef broth
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Remove the core from the cabbage and gently peel off the leaves.
3. Boil the leaves in a large pot of water for 5 minutes to soften, then drain.
4. In a bowl, mix ground beef, rice, onion, garlic, egg, salt, and pepper.
5. Place a small amount of the beef mixture onto each cabbage leaf and roll tightly, tucking in the sides.
6. Arrange rolls in a baking dish.
7. In a separate bowl, mix tomato sauce, beef broth, maple syrup, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
8. Pour the sauce over the cabbage rolls.
9. Cover with foil and bake for 60 minutes.
10. Remove the foil and bake for another 15 minutes to allow the rolls to brown slightly.
Storage
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheating
To reheat, place cabbage rolls in a baking dish, cover with foil, and warm in a 350°F oven for 20 minutes, or until heated through.
