Maple Bacon Baked Beans

A delightful twist on traditional baked beans, this recipe features rich and smoky bacon with a hint of sweetness from maple syrup, creating a perfect balance of flavors that will tantalize your taste buds.

Ingredients

2 cans (15 oz each) navy beans
6 slices thick-cut bacon, chopped
1 medium onion, diced
1/2 cup pure maple syrup
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tbsp Dijon mustard
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp smoked paprika
Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a large oven-safe pot or Dutch oven, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside, leaving the bacon fat in the pot.
3. Add the diced onion to the pot and sauté in the bacon fat until translucent, about 5 minutes.
4. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
5. Add the maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, ketchup, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir until well combined.
6. Add the navy beans and cooked bacon back into the pot, mixing everything together.
7. Transfer the pot to the preheated oven and bake, uncovered, for 45 minutes, until the sauce has thickened.
8. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Storage

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Reheating

Reheat in a saucepan over low heat until warmed through, or microwave on medium power for 1-2 minutes, stirring halfway through.
