Homestyle Bread Pudding

Ingredients

4 cups cubed day-old bread
2 cups whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
1/2 cup raisins (optional)
Pinch of salt

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
2. In a large mixing bowl, combine milk, heavy cream, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Whisk until well combined.
3. Place the cubed bread in the prepared baking dish.
4. Pour the milk mixture over the bread, ensuring all pieces are soaked, and let it sit for 10 minutes to absorb.
5. If desired, sprinkle raisins evenly over the mixture.
6. Drizzle melted butter over the top.
7. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the pudding is set and the top is golden brown.
8. Remove from oven and let it cool slightly before serving.

Storage

Store any leftover bread pudding in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating

To reheat, place the desired portion on a microwave-safe dish and warm in the microwave on medium heat for 1-2 minutes, or until heated through.
