Homestyle Baked Macaroni and Cheese

A rich and creamy baked macaroni and cheese that combines sharp cheddar and buttery breadcrumbs to create the ultimate comfort dish, perfect for family dinners or gatherings.

Ingredients

8 oz elbow macaroni
4 tbsp unsalted butter
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups whole milk
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 cup breadcrumbs
1 tbsp melted butter

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Cook macaroni in salted boiling water until al dente, then drain and set aside.
3. In a saucepan, melt 4 tbsp butter over medium heat.
4. Whisk in flour to form a roux and cook for 2 minutes.
5. Gradually whisk in milk and cook until thickened.
6. Stir in cheddar and Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
7. Add salt and pepper, then combine with cooked macaroni.
8. Pour mixture into a greased baking dish.
9. In a small bowl, mix breadcrumbs with 1 tbsp melted butter.
10. Sprinkle breadcrumbs over macaroni.
11. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden and bubbly.
12. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Storage

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating

Reheat in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 15-20 minutes or until heated through.
