Heritage Chicken Divan
A comforting and timeless casserole featuring tender chicken and broccoli enveloped in a creamy sauce, topped with melted cheese and crispy breadcrumbs. Perfect for family dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients
2 lbs chicken breasts
4 cups broccoli florets
2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
1 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup chicken broth
2 tbsp unsalted butter
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp paprika
1 tbsp lemon juice
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Steam broccoli florets until tender and vibrant green, about 5 minutes.
3. Cook chicken breasts until browned and fully cooked, approximately 7-10 minutes per side. Slice into bite-sized pieces.
4. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add onions and garlic, sauté until onions are translucent.
5. Stir in flour, cooking for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in chicken broth, cooking until thickened.
6. Remove from heat and stir in mayonnaise, sour cream, salt, pepper, paprika, and lemon juice.
7. In a large bowl, combine chicken, broccoli, and sauce, mixing well.
8. Transfer mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
9. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top evenly.
10. In a small bowl, combine breadcrumbs with a bit of melted butter, then sprinkle over cheese.
11. Bake in preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
12. Remove from oven, let cool slightly before serving.
Storage
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheating
Reheat in a preheated 350°F oven for 15-20 minutes, or until heated through. Alternatively, microwave individual portions for 2-3 minutes.
