Hearty Morning Sausage Bake

Ingredients

1 pound breakfast sausage
6 large eggs
2 cups whole milk
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
4 cups cubed day-old bread
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup chopped green onions

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a large skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned and crumbled. Drain excess fat.
3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
4. Stir in the cubed bread, cooked sausage, 1 1/2 cups of cheese, and half of the green onions.
5. Pour the mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
6. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese on top.
7. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the top is golden brown.
8. Garnish with the remaining green onions before serving.

Storage

Cover the casserole tightly with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating

Reheat individual portions in the microwave for 1-2 minutes until heated through, or cover the entire dish with foil and reheat in a 350°F oven for 20 minutes.
