Hearty Homestyle Chicken Soup
This comforting chicken soup combines tender chicken, hearty vegetables, and aromatic herbs to create a heartwarming dish perfect for any season.

Ingredients
1 whole chicken (about 4 lbs)
2 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
4 quarts water
2 bay leaves
1 onion, chopped
3 carrots, sliced
3 celery stalks, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 sprigs fresh thyme
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
2 cups egg noodles
Instructions
1. Place the chicken in a large pot and cover with water.
2. Add salt, pepper, and bay leaves, then bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
3. Reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes, skimming foam as needed.
4. Remove the chicken, let it cool, then shred the meat from the bones.
5. Return the shredded chicken to the pot.
6. Add onion, carrots, celery, garlic, and thyme, then simmer for 30 minutes.
7. Stir in parsley and egg noodles, and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
8. Adjust seasoning to taste, then serve hot.
Storage
Allow the soup to cool to room temperature, then store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Reheating
Reheat gently on the stovetop over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until heated through.
