Hearty Ham and Potato Bake

A comforting and traditional casserole dish featuring layers of tender potatoes and savory ham, perfect for a satisfying family dinner.

Ingredients

2 lbs of russet potatoes, peeled and sliced
1 lb of cooked ham, diced
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 cup of cheddar cheese, grated
1 cup of whole milk
1 cup of heavy cream
2 tbsp of unsalted butter
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 tbsp of olive oil
1 tsp of salt
1/2 tsp of black pepper
1/2 tsp of dried thyme
1/4 cup of fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sauté onions and garlic until translucent.
3. In a large bowl, combine sliced potatoes, diced ham, sautéed onions, garlic, salt, pepper, and thyme.
4. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter.
5. Layer half of the potato mixture in the dish, sprinkle with half of the cheese.
6. Repeat the layering with the remaining potato mixture and cheese.
7. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk and heavy cream, then pour evenly over the casserole.
8. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
9. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until top is golden brown and bubbly.
10. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Storage

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating

Reheat individual portions in the microwave for 2-3 minutes or until heated through. Alternatively, reheat in a preheated oven at 350°F for 15-20 minutes.
