Gourmet Truffle Baked Mac and Cheese

Ingredients
16 oz elbow macaroni
4 tbsp unsalted butter
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
4 cups whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
2 cups shredded Gruyère cheese
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 tsp white truffle oil
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
2 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Cook the macaroni in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente, following package instructions. Drain and set aside.
3. In a large saucepan, melt 4 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Sprinkle in the flour, whisking constantly, and cook for about 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
4. Gradually whisk in the milk and heavy cream, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and comes to a simmer.
5. Lower the heat and stir in the Gruyère, cheddar, and Parmesan cheeses, mixing until melted and smooth.
6. Add the white truffle oil, garlic powder, nutmeg, salt, and pepper to taste, blending well.
7. Combine the cheese sauce with the cooked macaroni, ensuring all pasta is evenly coated.
8. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.
9. In a small bowl, mix the panko breadcrumbs with the melted butter and sprinkle over the mac and cheese.
10. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until golden and bubbly on top.
11. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Storage
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheating
Reheat in a preheated 350°F oven for 15-20 minutes or until warmed through. Alternatively, microwave individual portions on medium power until heated.
