Ingredients

4 large russet potatoes
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup sour cream
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1/4 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons chopped chives

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
2. Wash and peel the potatoes. Slice them into 1/4-inch thick rounds.
3. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and stir in milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced potatoes with the butter mixture until evenly coated.
5. Grease a baking dish and layer half of the potatoes at the bottom.
6. Spread half of the sour cream and sprinkle half of the cheddar cheese over the potatoes.
7. Add a second layer of potatoes and repeat with remaining sour cream and cheese.
8. Cover with foil and bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes.
9. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
10. Garnish with chopped chives before serving.

Storage

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 15-20 minutes or until heated through.
