Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup almond flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
3 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup hot brewed coffee
1 cup dark chocolate chips

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, almond flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then mix in the vanilla extract.
5. Alternately add the flour mixture and buttermilk to the creamed mixture, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.
6. Stir in the hot coffee until just combined, then fold in the dark chocolate chips.
7. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops.
8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
9. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Store the cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
