Classic Tuna Melt

Ingredients

2 cans tuna, drained (5 oz each)
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1/4 cup celery, finely chopped
1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Salt and pepper to taste
8 slices bread
8 slices cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons butter, softened

Instructions

1. In a bowl, combine drained tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, celery, red onion, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
2. Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
3. Place four bread slices, buttered side down, in a skillet over medium heat.
4. Add a layer of cheddar cheese on each slice in the skillet.
5. Top the cheese with a generous portion of tuna mixture.
6. Add another slice of cheddar cheese on top of the tuna.
7. Cover with remaining bread slices, buttered side up.
8. Cook until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes per side.
9. Remove from skillet, slice in half, and serve warm.

Storage

Store any leftover tuna salad in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating

To reheat, place the sandwich in a skillet over low heat and cover with a lid until the cheese is melted and the bread is crisp.
