Classic Steamed Artichokes

Ingredients
4 large artichokes
1 lemon, cut into wedges
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
4 cloves garlic, peeled
Instructions
1. Fill a large pot with about 2 inches of water and place a steaming basket inside.
2. Trim the stems of the artichokes and remove the tough outer leaves.
3. Cut the top inch of the artichokes and snip the pointy tips of the leaves.
4. Rub the cut edges with lemon wedges to prevent browning.
5. Place the artichokes stem-side up in the steaming basket.
6. Add lemon wedges, olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic cloves to the pot.
7. Cover the pot and steam over medium heat for 30-40 minutes until the leaves can be easily pulled off.
8. Serve the artichokes warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
Storage
Store cooked artichokes in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheating
To reheat, steam the artichokes again for 5-10 minutes until warmed through.
