Classic Spaghetti Bolognese

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef
2 tbsp olive oil
1 onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 carrot, diced
1 celery stalk, diced
1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
2 tbsp tomato paste
1/2 cup red wine
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried basil
Salt and pepper to taste
12 oz spaghetti
Parmesan cheese, for serving

Instructions

1. Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, carrot, and celery. Cook until vegetables are softened.
2. Add ground beef to the pan and cook until browned.
3. Stir in tomato paste and cook for 2 minutes.
4. Pour in red wine and bring to a simmer.
5. Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
6. Meanwhile, cook spaghetti according to package instructions.
7. Serve the bolognese sauce over the cooked spaghetti and top with Parmesan cheese.

Storage

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating

Reheat in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until heated through.
