Classic Shrimp Cocktail

Serve chilled, succulent shrimp paired with a tangy cocktail sauce for a timeless and elegant appetizer. A slice of lemon adds an extra zest to this refreshing starter.

Ingredients

1 lb large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
4 cups water
1 tbsp salt
1 lemon (sliced)
1/2 cup ketchup
2 tbsp horseradish
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp hot sauce

Instructions

1. Fill a large pot with 4 cups of water, add 1 tbsp of salt and the sliced lemon.
2. Bring the water to a boil, then add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes until pink and opaque.
3. Remove the shrimp and immediately transfer them to an ice bath to stop the cooking process.
4. In a small bowl, mix together ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce to make the cocktail sauce.
5. Serve the chilled shrimp with the cocktail sauce and a slice of lemon on the side.

Storage

Store any leftover shrimp and sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

Reheating

Shrimp cocktail is best served chilled and should not be reheated.
