Classic French Quiche

Ingredients
1 9-inch pie crust
6 slices thick-cut bacon
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup whole milk
4 large eggs
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 cup Gruyère cheese, grated
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Roll out the pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch pie pan, trimming any excess. Prick the bottom with a fork and chill for 15 minutes.
3. Meanwhile, cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crisp. Remove and drain on paper towels, then crumble.
4. In a large bowl, whisk together the cream, milk, eggs, salt, pepper, and nutmeg until well combined.
5. Spread the crumbled bacon and half of the grated cheese evenly over the pie crust.
6. Pour the egg mixture over the bacon and cheese, then top with the remaining cheese.
7. Dot with butter and bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.
8. Let the quiche cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Storage
Store the quiche in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheating
To reheat, place slices in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes, or until warmed through.
