Classic Beef Lasagna
A classic Italian favorite, this beef lasagna is layered with a robust bolognese sauce, creamy béchamel, and perfectly cooked pasta sheets, topped with bubbly melted mozzarella for a satisfying, family-friendly meal.

Ingredients
1 tbsp olive oil
1 large onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 lb ground beef
24 oz canned tomatoes
2 tbsp tomato paste
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
12 oz lasagna sheets
2 cups whole milk
4 tbsp butter
4 tbsp all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp nutmeg
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. To prepare the bolognese sauce, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic, sauté until translucent.
3. Add the ground beef to the skillet, cook until browned.
4. Stir in canned tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer on low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
5. While the sauce is simmering, prepare the béchamel. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat, then add flour and whisk until smooth.
6. Gradually whisk in the milk, continue stirring until the sauce thickens. Add nutmeg, then remove from heat.
7. Cook the lasagna sheets according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
8. To assemble the lasagna, spread a thin layer of bolognese sauce in a baking dish. Layer with lasagna sheets, followed by a layer of béchamel and a sprinkle of mozzarella. Repeat layers, finishing with béchamel and a generous topping of mozzarella and Parmesan.
9. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until the top is golden and bubbling.
10. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Storage
Store leftover lasagna in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheating
Reheat individual portions in the microwave for 2-3 minutes or until heated through. Alternatively, reheat in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 15 minutes.
