Classic Banana Bread

Ingredients

3 ripe bananas
1/3 cup melted butter
1 teaspoon baking soda
Pinch of salt
3/4 cup sugar
1 large egg, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 4x8 inch loaf pan.
2. In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth. Stir the melted butter into the mashed bananas.
3. Mix in the baking soda and salt. Stir in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract.
4. Add the flour last, and mix just until combined. Do not overmix.
5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
6. Bake for 60 to 65 minutes or until a tester inserted into the center comes out clean.
7. Remove from oven and let cool in the pan for a few minutes. Then remove the banana bread from the pan and let cool completely on a wire rack.

Storage

Store banana bread wrapped in plastic wrap or aluminum foil at room temperature for up to 4 days. For longer storage, wrap tightly and freeze for up to 3 months.

Reheating

To reheat banana bread, slice and heat in a toaster or oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes, or microwave individual slices for about 20 seconds.
