Cinnamon Vanilla Applesauce

Ingredients

4 lbs apples (mixed sweet and tart, peeled, cored, and quartered)
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 cups water
1/2 cup fresh apple cider
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/8 tsp salt

Instructions

1. Place apples, sugar, water, and apple cider in a large pot over medium heat.
2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover.
3. Let simmer for 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until apples are soft.
4. Remove from heat and mash apples with a potato masher or blend for a smoother texture.
5. Stir in cinnamon, vanilla extract, nutmeg, and salt until well combined.
6. Allow to cool before serving or storing.

Storage

Store the applesauce in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 3 months.

Reheating

Reheat in a saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally, until warmed through.
