Caramelized Apple Delight

A delightful twist on traditional baked apples, this caramelized apple recipe features a perfect balance of sweet and tart flavors, enhanced by a hint of spices. Ideal for a cozy dessert or an impressive treat for fall gatherings.

Ingredients

4 large apples
2 tbsp unsalted butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1/4 cup dried cranberries
1/4 cup apple cider
Pinch of salt

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Core the apples, leaving the bottom intact, and place them in a baking dish.
3. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
4. Stir in the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt until the mixture is smooth and bubbling.
5. Pour half of the caramel sauce over the apples, reserving the rest.
6. Fill each apple core with chopped pecans and dried cranberries.
7. Pour apple cider into the baking dish to cover the bottom.
8. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, basting the apples with the cider every 15 minutes.
9. Once the apples are tender, remove from the oven and drizzle with the remaining caramel sauce before serving.

Storage

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating

Reheat in the microwave for 1-2 minutes or until warmed through.
