Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 cups peeled and chopped apples
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/4 cup whole milk

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and cloves.
3. In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
5. Fold in the chopped apples and walnuts until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
7. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
8. Allow the cake to cool on a wire rack before serving.

Store the cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for up to 1 week.

Reheating

To reheat, warm slices in the microwave for 20-30 seconds or in the oven at 300°F for 10 minutes.
