Authentic Italian Lasagna

Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 lb ground pork
1 onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
28 oz crushed tomatoes
6 oz tomato paste
1/2 cup red wine
2 tsp dried basil
1 tsp dried oregano
Salt and pepper to taste
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
3 cups whole milk
1 pinch ground nutmeg
9 lasagna noodles
2 cups ricotta cheese
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. In a large skillet, cook ground beef and pork over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
3. Add onion and garlic to the skillet; cook until soft.
4. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, red wine, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 30 minutes.
5. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour until smooth.
6. Gradually whisk in milk and nutmeg; cook until thickened.
7. Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain.
8. Spread a layer of meat sauce in a 9x13-inch baking dish.
9. Layer noodles, ricotta, meat sauce, béchamel, mozzarella, and Parmesan.
10. Repeat layers, ending with a topping of mozzarella and Parmesan.
11. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
12. Remove foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
13. Let stand for 15 minutes before serving.
Storage
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheating
To reheat, cover with foil and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes.
