Apple Harvest Delight

A delightful and classic dessert featuring caramelized apples beneath a crunchy oat topping, perfect for autumn gatherings and cozy nights in.

Ingredients

5 tart apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
Juice of 1 lemon

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a large bowl, toss apple slices with lemon juice, 1/4 cup of the granulated sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon of the cinnamon.
3. Spoon apple mixture into a buttered 9x13 inch baking dish.
4. In another bowl, mix together flour, oats, brown sugar, remaining granulated sugar, remaining cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
5. Cut in the softened butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
6. Spread the crumb mixture evenly over the apples.
7. Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and crisp.
8. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Storage

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating

To reheat, place the desired portion in a microwave-safe dish and heat on medium power until warm, or place in a preheated oven at 300°F (150°C) until heated through.
