Almond Cherry Bliss Bars

Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 cups granulated sugar
1 teaspoon almond extract
4 large eggs
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
1/2 cup sliced almonds
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Add the almond extract and eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
6. Spread two-thirds of the batter into the prepared pan.
7. Evenly spread the cherry pie filling over the batter layer.
8. Drop spoonfuls of the remaining batter over the cherry layer and gently spread.
9. Sprinkle sliced almonds on top.
10. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
11. Allow to cool completely in the pan.
12. In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the glaze.
13. Drizzle the glaze over cooled bars before cutting.
Storage
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to 1 week.
Reheating
To reheat, warm in a preheated oven at 300°F (150°C) for 5-7 minutes or microwave individual bars for 10-15 seconds.
